Jay has been my personal trainer for 4 months now since my appearance on Britain’s Got Talent 2010. I have never been a kind of person to use a personal trainer as i was never able to commit to regular gym sessions however it all changed when one day Jay approached me in the gym and started giving tips and advice to how to improve. He even emailed me some tips the day after which prompted me to take up his services and give it a shot because i needed to get into shape for BGT semi-finals.

I joined Fitness First, Gracechurch Street, in March 2010 in desperate need to get in shape after spending 5 years travelling and living on the isle of wight, spending too much time drinking and enjoying myself. I was assigned to a trainer by the name of Jay and thought, here we go another gym obsessed guy that’s going to end up killing me (the last bit is still right at times) and will end up not going back. Well 8 months down the line I am still going to gym, and thanks to Jays motivation and drive, am still gaining fitness levels I didn’t know I had in me.
Through training with Jay, following the programs he has written, and changing my eating routines through advice Jay has given, not only has my body shaped changed to be more healthy, I now feel more fit within myself and have the confidence to continue raising my goals to gain more from fitness.
As a personal trainer, Jay has made working out fun and enjoyable and has the patience but determination to help you reach your goals at a pace and level that is comfortable, but still tough.

One of my new years resolutions for 2011 was get in shape, but do it properly! I’d always been keen on the gym and go down there with mates, and whilst we always worked rather than chatting progress for me was slow! So resolution no 1 get a PT. I joined Fitness First December and basically checked out the PT’s based on what they looked like – if they were in shape, looked good, then for me they obviously knew what they would be talking about! For this reason only, I picked Jay to get me on the road I wanted to be on!
Google images, Jay is his own best marketing – pure and simple.
Once signed up, to be honest I wasn’t sure what to expect, some PT’s I’ve come across are pretty arrogant ‘look at me types’ and nothing else! First thing you’ll notice with Jay is he listens, there’s no messing about, you identify your goals and what you want to get out the experience, and believe me it’s an experience!
I wont lie, I’ve never been worked as hard in my life! The routines you’ll be put through will hurt but like most things in life you need to work hard to gain the best things! Despite the pain Jay will encourage you to get through that barrier and help you on your way to meet those goals you set out In the first place. You’ll also notice no session is the same as the last, Jay has a huge repertoire at his disposal to avoid boredom and to keep you second guessing! Finally the guy has a huge amount of enthusiasm for what he does! He lives and breathes fitness and this is pretty infectious on whoever has the pleasure of training with him and despite the pain, sweat and moments of very nearing hitting the sickness threshold it is a pleasure to be trained by him.
My own experience stats wise is in two months I reckon i’ve gone from close to 20% to 15%! My body has certainly changed, had to buy a load of new shirts for work (slim fit
bill is in the post Jay!) suits require belts!
In short get a session booked, LISTEN to his advice, eat right and you’ll go far with this bloke! I’ve been there and i”m well on the road to where I want to be.

I have had fitness instructors on and off for many years. Most of them were good and focused on making sure I worked hard for the hour I was with them and then that was it.Then 3 months ago in January 2011 I decided to have one last go and getting fit and putting on muscle and Jay became my instructor. It became clear very quickly that his approach was not like the others. Jay had a multi-focus approach including fitness, endurance, body building and diet. We went through what food I eat on a weekly basis and then agreed what food is best too eat to get the best effects for my efforts and also when I should be eating and how often. It was then time to target areas of my body which in the past had certainly held me back developing the more visible areas I found easy. Jay gave me a detailed training schedule of what I should do when I was not with him. In his weekly session he would then work on the areas he thought needed pushing to the next level.
I completed 3 months of training once a week with Jay and from the beginning I decided to follow Jay’s instruction on exercise and food as closely as possible. I did that because I wanted too but also because Jay took a direct interest. He wanted to know what exercises and routines I had been doing, what food I had been eating, what aches and pains I had. From my answers would determine what type of session I had with him. After every session with Jay I was knacked and the next day always woke up knowing had pushed muscles I did not know I had. So was it worth it. Well I lost half a stone, 2 inches from my waist and body fat fell from 25% to 19%. All in three months. So although it was hard it was worth it. Could I have done it without Jay’s input and drive. No.
